Economic Forum Portugal-Angola in Oporto
Inventa International attended the Economic Forum Portugal-Angola, that took place in Oporto in Portugal. The event highlighted the importance of economic relations between the two countries, where we are proud to work with several business areas, protecting all Intellectual Property interests.
The wish to foster a cooperative relationship between the two countries was reinforced on this initiative, attended by Portugal's Prime Minister António Costa and the Angolan President, João Lourenço.
New second-level domain is launched (.ke)
The launhcing of this domain is divided in 3 phases. The Sunrise Phase started on the past 23rd ofjuly of 2017 and will end on October 22nd of 2017. During this period, only the oweners who have trademarks registered in Kenya will have the right to apply for the corresponding domain names. To do that, it will only be necessary to have a confirmation letter from the Intelectual Property Institute of Kenya to verify if the trademarks are registered in the country.
Why .AFRICA will succeed where others have failed
It is increasingly becoming clear that many of the newTLD’s launched since 2013 are not viable as a business. While there are some notable exceptions such as .xyz, most have struggled to report positive numbers and are currently operating at a loss. A staggering 70% of all these domains don’t have any content whatsoever, which helps to explain why renewal rates for these domains also seem to be lower than the industry average.
