Lisbon Law Summit 1st Edition

The 1st edition of Lisbon Law Summit took place at Lisbon’s University Law School.

The event, destined to all the law professionals, gathered a wide number of participants who discussed and exchanged experiences about their practice.

Inventa International participated in this initiative, as it considered it to be an opportunity to share some ideas about the Portuguese Intellectual Property panorama.

Intellectual Property Strategy for Fashion Entrepreneurs

Universidade Nova de Lisboa was the chosen stage for the initiative Intellectual Property for Fashion Entrepreneurs.

At this event, organized by Community in Law, the participant, from all over the fashion industry, had the opportunity to learn, with João Francisco Sá, some of the best strategies to protect their designs and trademarks.

New Board members appointed for the Portuguese Industrial Property Office

The Portuguese Secretary of State for Justice has nominated new Board members for the Portuguese Industrial Property Office – INPI. The new appointed members are temporarily replacing the previous administration, who resigned.

Leading the new team is Ana Margarida Bandeira, as President, and Margarida Matias and Jorge Rodrigues da Ponte as vowels.

The new administration is committed with giving continuity to the Institute’s modernization process.

End of requirement of Power-of-Attorney for Intellectual Property Rights Renewals in Macao

Starting January 2, 2019, it has ended the requirement to present a notarized Power-of-Attorney when applying for Intellectual Property Rights renewals registrations in Macao

This change has the aim to simplify the administrative industrial property procedures, in order to improve its efficiency.

From now on, the agents don’t need to present a Power-of-Attorney to submit a renewal request.

2nd Angolan Intellectual Property Congress takes place in April 2019

On 25 and 26 April 2019 Epic Sana hotel in Luanda will receive the 2nd Angolan Intellectual Property Congress, an event organized by Inventa International and Ponto de Vista.

The discussion about the Preliminary Draft Law on Intellectual Property in Angola, now in public discussion, stands out from many other issues that will be on debated at this event.

Deadline for owners to regulate their trademark 5.001 to 20.757 in Angola is coming up

The deadline granted by the Angolan Institute of Industrial Property (IAPI), for applicants to present the documents to update their requests to register brands from 5,001 to 20.757, ends on the 26 December 2018. 

This process started in December last year, at which time Inventa International announced its beginning, having also informed about the required documents to update the files referring to these trademarks.

Inventa International attended the Angola Business Forum 2018

The Angola Business Forum was held in the past 8th and 9th of June, at the Convention Center of Talatona (CCTA), in Luanda. With the theme “We are together for Angola”, the aim of the event was to promote networking between entrepreneurs and public and diplomatic institutions, who were able to share their know-how, trends, actions and success case studies. Consequently, it was possible to increase the potential for business opportunities and develop partnerships with the aim of encouraging and promoting Angola’s economy.

Tete Goat - First Geographical Indication of Mozambique

The province of Tete, in Mozambique, has a goat population estimated in about 300 thousand animals, which has been increasing over the years, and is classified as the first goat producer in this country.

A Geographical Indication (GI) works to identify products that own qualities, characteristics or reputation associated with a region (when clearly differentiated and easily identifiable) and are of extreme importance for the market, since it establishes a trustworthy relationship between the producer and the consumer.
