Every 2 years Évora receives Alentejo’s Vine and Wine Symposium, an event where specialists from the wine sector go to acquire in dept information to improve their business.

This year, Inventa International participated in the exhibition, with a scientific poster explaining how to register an international wine trademark.

Sudan dissolved Appeal Committee of the Trademark Office

The Sudanese Trademark Office has recently announced the dissolution of its Appeal Committee.

This means that from now on, in accordance to article 16 (2) of the trademark's act, any refusal by the Registrar to register or to make an amendment, modification or limitation to a national trademark, or to an international trademark filled by the Madrid System, shall be subject to appeal to the court.

 

Article (16) of the trademark's act stipulates the following:

2018 INTA Leadership Meeting in New Orleans

Between the 6th and the 8th November the Intellectual Property community gathered in New Orleans for the 2018 INTA Leadership Meeting. This event aims to define the Association’s objectives and goals for the upcoming year.

This year our team was represented by Daniel Reis Nobre, who is a member of INTA’s Enforcement Committee, and João Batalha, has a member of the Internet Committee.

PTMG’S Autumn Conference in Dubrovnik focuses on Brand Protection

The 97th PTMG’s Autumn Conference took place in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The event focused on Trademark Protection in the Pharma Industry.

The international use of Nonproprietary Names (INN) was one of the issues that stood out at this event. The presentation of case studies was highlighted by the participants as a plus of this edition, that counted with our attendance.

Islamic Republic of Afghanistan joins Madrid Protocol

On March 26, the General Director of WIPO announced with satisfaction the adherence of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Madrid Protocol.

The Madrid system makes possible for a trademark to be registered by any applicant through a single application in all countries that are part of this agreement.

Intellectual Property: Online registrations in Tanzania

The online system enters in force on 18th December of 2017.

On 18th December, the online registrations for all trademarks, patents, renewals and recordals (change of address, name and assignment) will enter in force in Tanzania, meaning that the manual system for filing applications at the Registry will no longer be applicable.

By having an online system, the same will ease the workload at the Registry and the time for registration will be faster.
